Tallinn Times

Haiij

K gonna try not to fruitlessly wander off on those murky personal bullcrap paths again and actually talk about the goings-on.

I'm doing pretty well for myself today. Teamed up with Vitaly on a neato painting project  in a restaurant on the old town square. Good pay, plenty of work - the second, huge wall painting is almost done and right now it seems there's few times as much work yet to be done. The nature of the work is also to my tastes -the paintings are about symbols and kind of medieval theme but also timeless and universal. The owner, an Italian guy, is really into all this and could talk for hours about unicorn ladies and the tree of life and pre-raphaelites and so on.
As it happens - I just finished Steinbeck's Cup of Gold and now am in the middle of his King Arthur book (man, soon there will be no more Steinbeck left for me!) so I am also (like always) heavily into these symbolic ancient worlds of archetypes. Which all pretty much seems to be about sex and power thus far. Which makes me miserable. Also somehow, for the first time in my life, I've started to listen to feminists. Because something isn't fair. Not sure yet what exactly, BUT IT ISN'T!...
Has to do something with my problem with sex and power I guess.
So much butthurt. I don't wanna grow up.

K made one whole paragraph before yapping bout the personal again. Good.
I guess I should admit by now that for me the inside world vastly outweighs the physical world. Outside is just a crude, encoded reflection of the real thing.
It's fun to go and play outside tho.

Anyway yeah. Every day we go to paint (around 1-2 o clock) and work for 5-7 hours. The meals are free, as is coffee ( yum caramel latte ~ everything else they have is too potent for me), also everyone is really nice to us. Man, it's really refreshing to see people showing respect for the artists! heehe.
  [insert rant 2]
Anyway, respect or no, we both feel immense pride over our profession. Aspiring to be a true artist is a noble thing! Of course we both have a long way to go to excellency but we're working on it! As with everything meaningful - the deeper in you go, the bigger it gets. And so much more interesting! Art truly is a science and has way much more to do with math than with emotions.
Today it's harder and harder to find people who can really appreciate actual good art. (And well it's been long known that artists do art for other artists, who actually can appreciate it fully, the public really has little clue, or interest).
It's true, that being a part of a thing that's bigger than you makes ones soul bigger too.

I consider myself really lucky, even if I am dirt poor and likely always will be ("Hull yaah, with SUCH mentality, guuurl").

yah.
