Day three. Fixations

A crop of an intricate realistic oil painting set indoors. 3/4 of the image is a head of a large dead fish set on it's side. We can see its pale yellow festering underside, mouth slightly open, empty eye looking upwards. It may be a carp. It's laying on a black and white checkered floor and on the left side of the painting we can see a woman in a long white dress and a lace collar in the style of 16th century. She is leaning on the large fish, with her back towards us, as if she is mourning it. The back of her head is fully hidden behind the round lace trimmed collar. On the background we see some wooden paneling and a white framed opening to another, more colorful interior with some boxes and paintings. Most of the opening is blocked by the enormous fish.

Hi.

It's seems I've gained a new fixation. It's 11:15 AM, I've overslept and here I am again with my hot mug of black morning coffee. Ok, I didn't really oversleep, I just chose to sleep as long as I could this morning. Oversleeping would imply running late for something.

So yeah, a new fixation. Writing, journaling. It's not really blogging, because nobody really reads this, this is just for me. It still remains technically public, because why not? If someone really is that into me to stalk me to the lengths of this obscure little internet address, and manage to actually stay awake after reading a few lines - they deserve the access. Welcome, friend. This is my life, my vulnerability, my cringe. And it's not really a secret or anything, I'm a human.

Who gets fixated on things sometimes. Maybe even a little hyperfixated? I've been doing this all my life, in various scales. If I was into something I did it a lot, a great amount. One example as a kid, as a form of play, I drew this comic about an anthropomorphic ninja mouse girl, and I remember there eventually being piles of it. I could do it for hours daily.

And then I was really into fishkeeping, or just freshwater tanks. I studiously read thick old ichthyology books and sketched out scientific drawings from them, I bought any and all  colorful "fishkeeping 101" books Kuressaare's tiny bookshop could provide in the late 90's. I frequented the local fish shop often enough to get concerned looks from the shopkeep. I had many tanks and large jars filled with guppies and weird creatures from the pond. I was obsessed with evey aspect of the hobby, breeding fish, tank scaping, growing various plants, composing a perfect community tank, etc.

My more recent hobby that I got really invested in past year has been sewing. The obsession has run it's course and comes back in smaller bursts from time to time. I would really like to keep up with the passion for sewing my own wardrobe because it's winter and all the cool summer dresses I made aren't really that useful anymore. But now I'm just too lazy for it at this moment, I would much rather... write a blog!

Oh another recent little obsession has been my skincare addiction - I went from a few tubes of cream to a remarkable pile of serums, masks and potions in a matter of few months. My skin is happy though. This too seems to have run it's course however, a few good serums could use a refill but I'm feeling too lazy and frugal to be arsed at this day.

The most recent little fixation before the blog has been natural pearls. I've always liked them and always will. I had a bracelet with a string of small pearls that broke and then I bought a bigger, sturdier one. And then another one on sale. And some pearl studs for my ears. And then I got a labret and a lip ring with pearl-like little orbs, even though I haven't worn anything in my still functional lip piercings for over 7 years. And I would really like a third bracelet and something cute for the neck. And some bulging pearly rings. I guess. Already not that important, but would be nice nonetheless.

But lets see how long I'll keep up this sudden burst of frequent journaling.
